A typical day with a Live-in carer

A typical Day with Live-in care

Live- in care as the name suggests is when a carer moves into your home with you to support your daily needs and tasks. Whether it’s about companionship in day to day life or getting you safe and comfortable at night, our live in carers will be by your side.

The care we offer is always of the best quality based on your personal needs and daily routines, which means despite the title there is no typical day. However, we can give you an idea of what it’s like to have a live-in carer.

Starting the day your way

Live-in care enables you to maintain your normal routine. If you wake up at a certain time or have a particular prepared breakfast your live-in carer will support you to begin your day right.

You will also be supported getting dressed and washed. There are bound to be areas where you don’t feel comfortable having someone helping you with or that you still want to remain as independent as you can, it’s only natural. Your privacy and personal space is always respected and important.

Day to day life

Hobbies and interests are important to our mental health and we want to be able to support these. They could be from having a drink with a friend or gardening or birdwatching. Whatever you enjoy doing most, our live-in carers enable you to keep doing what you love.

Live-in carers can help you by accompanying you to a friend’s house via on a bus or driving you there. Unlike care homes you can invite your friends and family over to your house whenever you like. Allowing you to retain your social life and important connections.

In the evenings when it’s time to unwind you can sit together watching your favourite shows or sit reading your book whilst waiting for dinner, which you can enjoy together. Live-in care allows you to keep your nightly routine and choose when you’re ready to go to bed where you can be assisted with bathing, changing into nightwear and taking any medication.

During the night if you need assistance with going to the toilet your live-in carer can ensure that this is done safely.

Specialist support

Live-in care covers a wide range of needs and complex requirements such as a stoma or catheter. We aim for your loved one to live an independent life with the knowledge that there is someone there to help when they need it. Live-in care is not subject to those who are elderly but also to those with long term conditions or recovering from surgery.

Familiarity and comfort when growing older is so important especially when suffering from dementia. Live-in care helps ease moments of confusion whilst allowing them to live in their place of comfort, home.

A typical day of live-in care is always different and changes based on your needs leaving room for choice. But what we can guarantee is that your comfort and independence is at the forefront of our care plans.

Live-in care provides the one to one, person-centred care that you don’t get with care homes. The freedom to go out and about at your leisure is not available in care homes. If you have any enquires or want some advice please give us a call, we would love to hear from you
